Tiny Tigers Programme
Aimed at Nursery & Reception children – 3-5 yr olds
Designed around the Early Years Statutory Framework [EYSF]
PRIMARY FOCUS: To foster Physical Development of Gross Motor Skills (an Early Learning Goal) in a martial arts play environment.
Learning specifically to:
- Negotiate space and obstacles
- Demonstrate strength
- Demonstrate balance
- Demonstrate co-ordination
- Move energetically with running, jumping, dancing, hopping, skipping and climbing
ADDITIONAL FOCUS: To use martial arts play to incorporate elements from all other Early Learning Goals, specifically:
- Listening, Attention & Understanding
- Speaking
- Self-regulation (feelings and behaviour)
- Managing self (confidence, rules, personal needs)
- Building relationships
- Number & Numerical Patterns
- Fine Motor Skills
Tigers Programme
Aimed at Year 1 & 2 children – 5-7 yr olds
Designed around the Primary Key Stage 1 [KS1] Physical Education curriculum
PRIMARY FOCUS: To develop fundamental movement skills through competitive (against self and others) and co-operative martial arts practices.
Aiming specifically to:
- Increase confidence and competence in martial arts
- Extend agility
- Extend balance
- Extend co-ordination
- Master running, jumping, throwing and catching and apply them in a martial arts environment
ADDITIONAL FOCUS:
- To participate in martial arts team games
- To perform martial arts skills using simple movement patterns
- To be physically active for sustained periods of time
- To use martial arts to lead a healthy, active life
- To build character and embed values such as fairness and respect
